Esoteric Order of Dagon

The Esoteric Order of Dagon is the fictional religious organization through which Obed Marsh’s bargain with the Deep Ones becomes established in Innsmouth. The Shadow over Innsmouth connects it with the replacement of earlier churches, oaths, ritual gatherings, material rewards and coercive secrecy. Much of its history comes from Zadok Allen’s testimony, while the visiting narrator encounters its buildings, ceremonial dress and apparent participants directly.
