Wilum Hopfrog Pugmire (1951–2019) developed a personal form of Lovecraftian fiction through short stories, prose poems and sonnets. Closely associated with Seattle and the imaginary Sesqua Valley, Pugmire combined literary homage with decadent imagery, queer experience and an emphasis on atmosphere. The resulting work treats Lovecraft as a continuing source of invention rather than a closed system to reproduce.
