Catherine Lucille Moore was a major writer of fantasy and science fiction, creator of Northwest Smith and Jirel of Joiry, a correspondent of Lovecraft and a participant in The Challenge from Beyond. Her independent early work and later collaboration with Henry Kuttner are both essential to her career. Neither can be reduced to her place in someone else’s literary circle.
