Before kingdoms, before history, before mankind itself, something had already built a city beneath the desert.
Nameless City – Before Mankind captures the overwhelming scale and silence of Lovecraft’s ancient ruins. A solitary traveler stands before a monumental gateway carved into cyclopean stone, facing architecture created for beings whose civilization vanished long before the first human cities appeared.
Inspired by The Nameless City, the artwork focuses on architectural horror rather than visible monsters. The impossible proportions, unreadable carvings and immense darkness beyond the entrance suggest a world shaped by a forgotten race whose history lies buried beneath endless sands.
Rendered in a restrained monochromatic palette of weathered terracotta, dusty sandstone and deep black, the design combines monumental composition with distressed screen-print textures.
