The moon-beasts are the pale, changeable masters of the black-galley trade in The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath. Carter encounters them as strong, eyeless, tentacle-faced inhabitants of a lunar city whose commerce depends on disguised intermediaries, captive labor and predation.
