Byakhee are the winged star-steeds familiar from later Mythos fiction and Call of Cthulhu. Their game treatment is often compared with the unnamed hybrid mounts in Lovecraft’s The Festival, but the two accounts should remain distinguishable.

The dark young are the tree-like, tentacled servants of Shub-Niggurath described in Call of Cthulhu. They give a specific monstrous form to imagery that remains much less anatomically defined in Lovecraft’s invocations of the deity.
