Dagon is an early sea-horror story in which a wartime escapee finds himself stranded on an apparently risen ocean floor and encounters evidence of an intelligent undersea world. Written in July 1917 and first published in November 1919, it presents the experience through a desperate survivor whose recollection culminates in fear of an approaching presence.
